Position Summary:

 

This position reports directly to Corp Officers and is responsible for managing daily tasks of case work for the POH program and its services. POH Caseworker certification must be completed before 90-day review.

The POH Caseworker will be responsible for a full range of case management interventions for clients through the Pathway of Hope (POH) initiative and conduct individual meetings with those seeking assistance. In addition, the Case Worker will assist with seasonal programs while providing overall support to the “Campus of Hope” Social Services office.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the provision of a full range of case management interventions
  2. Work toward maintaining a caseload of 10+ POH families
  3. Maintain working relationships with community agencies
  4. Attend regular social service regional and divisional meetings and trainings
  5. Become proficient in use of assigned social services software
  6. Promote accurate and creative solutions
  7. Adhere to Covid-19 policies set by Monroe Corp

Mediate client’s needs for various assistance programs

 

  • Interview clients and determine eligibility based upon established guidelines for POH
  • Provide resources for financial aid, food, clothing, energy assistance and other referrals when needed
  • Promote accurate and creative solutions for goal plans

 

 

 

 Recordkeeping and Reporting

 

  • Document interactions with clients in a timely manner
  • Perform follow-up paperwork and data entry
  • Prepare statistical reports when necessary

 Teamwork and Collaboration

 

  • Works in collaboration with programs and all other agency staff to facilitate a team environment.
  • Serves on committees as requested
  • Role models effective communication skills in building relationships with all employees and clients
  • Create good working relationships with local area service providers and support groups to facilitate the access to area resources for the clients
  • Substitutes for other staff when the need arises which may include after hours, weekends, and holidays.

 Accept other work- related assignments

 

  • Assist with Christmas and other seasonal programming at the Monroe Corp.
  • Communicate with other agencies and update referrals.
  • Support and collaborate with Campus of Hope Staff.
  • Attend all scheduled trainings and assigned staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Give assistance and collaborate with the shelter program when needed

Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience, College Courses and/or training and work experience is a definite plus.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of Social Service casework, or related experience
  4. Organizational skills and commitment to confidentiality are required

     Knowledge, skills and abilities

     

    • Working knowledge of computers, proficiency with Microsoft programs, and willingness to learn client software.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, and confidentiality.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, employees and the public.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Support the mission, purposes and goals of The Salvation Army
    • Skills in interviewing, and assessing social service cases
    • Level-headedness, flexibility, consistency, dependability, and compassion.
