Overview

 

Come join a team who are "Doing the Most Good."  The Salvation Army Walnut Thrift Store located in Columbia, Missouri, is looking for a part-time, 20 hours per week, Thrift Store Worker.  Experience running a cash register is preferred!  This position comes with great benefits such as 11 paid holidays a year, vacation time, sick time, personal time and is eligible for participation in the company funded pension plan after one year of service.  The minimum starting pay for this position is $9.45 per hour.

 

Responsibilities

Make a positive impact on people and the company’s bottom line by providing friendly competent cashiering, sales and/or warehouse labor to create a pleasant shopping experience for customers and donors. generate and share your own bright ideas with the team to encourage customer retention, growth of customer base, and growth in daily sales. Enhance relationships by demonstrating effective problem resolution skills.  Utilize a computer for clocking in and out.

Qualifications

Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.  High school/equivalent diploma and one year related work experience or two years work experience without diploma.  Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees.  Ability to comprehend written job description, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheets. Position may require the ability to operate a cash register and to make correct change for items sold. Must be capable of performing essential duties

 

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:  Continuously lifts 5 pounds, frequently lifts 25 pounds, occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently moves 50 pounds or more using dolly/cart/truck. Standing, twisting, bending, squatting and stretching are frequently done throughout each day. Most of the work will be done on the sales floor or in the warehouse area.
