  • Overview

    The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Counselor position.


    This position is responsible for counseling residents, making assessments, developing action plans, on-going follow-up, implementing safety protocol, and delivering positive intervention for rehabilitation and spiritual growth.


    The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Program is fully funded via the operations of the Family Stores.  Contributions from individuals, corporations, and churches who donate, make this program possible.

    • Conduct in-depth interviews with newly admitted residents (beneficiaries).
    • Provide individual and group counseling to assist beneficiaries understand/overcome social & emotional problems.
    • Design and manage individual treatment plans, utilizing Program methods and ancillary services from community agencies.
    • Monitor Beneficiaries to evaluate effectiveness of program and adapt treatment plan as needed.
    • Assist in the proper maintenance and security of files.
    • Secure appropriate background information from other agencies and institutions.
    • File case material as it is reviewed and record counseling summaries in a timely fashion.
    • Assist with work therapy evaluations and work adjustment reports.
    • Collaborate with other staff to provide a therapeutic environment in the work-therapy sites.
    • Plan and participate in intra-agency conferences on individual beneficiaries, as needed.
    • Develop & implement special projects, programs and services as assigned by the Program Administrator.
    • Attend program staff meetings and case conferences.
    • Provide statistical information to the personnel responsible for the preparation of monthly reports.
    • Assess spiritual needs of beneficiaries, make referrals to Chaplain, as needed.
    • Conduct classes and group sessions for beneficiaries in Chemical Dependency Education and Relapse Prevention as assigned.
    • Participate in In-Service Training and local seminars/workshops to enhance clinical skills.
    • Support the mission of The Salvation Army.



    • BA degree from accredited college or university plus two years related experience and/or training in addictions counseling.
    • State or national certification as an addictions counselor; such as CDAC.
    • LMHC License preferred.
